Cardiovascular
Cardio short for cardiovascular is the most important type of exercise you need to do if you want to lose love
handles. The reason for this is that toning your midsection muscles is great but you will still have that layer of
fat covering them up. The body can’t reduce itself in spots so this technique by itself will probably not work.
Cardio exercise on the other hand raises your metabolism to the point where your body actually goes into a fat
burning mode virtually melting away that fat. If you do nothing else; stick to a healthy eating strategy and do
your cardio exercises. This combination of nutrition and cardio exercise will work!

A word of caution; please see your doctor or health and nutrition professional before you start any diet and or
exercise routines. There are a variety of cardio exercises you can do, you do not need to do all of them, pick ones
you will enjoy and feel you will be able to do comfortably. Again, the most important part of cardio exercise is
getting your target heart rate between 50% and 85% (according to American Heart Association); it is important you
ask your doctor about your target heart rate especially if you are older or have some issues with your health.
Cardio exercises
Cardio exercises include activities such as walking (can be done on a trail, park, or even treadmill), stair
climbing (try any available stairs preferably unoccupied, or a stair master of some sort), bike riding, jogging,
jumping rope, or any type of aerobic exercises are all great if you need to lose love handles. One method to
determine if you are exercising at your target heart rate is to keep an eye on your breathing, you should be able
to exercise and still talk with some difficulty. If you must do the toning exercises go ahead and work them into
your routine just don’t do it at the expense of your diet or your cardio work out. Your goal is still to lose love

Mindset and Motivation
No, it is never easy making a lifestyle change of this magnitude; if you are going to lose love handles it will
require the right mind set, a firm commitment, and consistency. The most important part of your mind set is that
you need to believe you will succeed; the next is you need to accept the fact there will
be setbacks, you will lose some battles, but stick with it there will be more battles, your goal is to win the
war and lose love handles for good.
Your commitment should start out with a plan including your goals and milestones by which you will gage progress
and eventually success. Meeting your milestones and accomplishing goals along the way will do wonders for your
motivation. Finally consistency will help you meet your goals much faster. Trying to accomplish your goals
haphazardly will only lead to lost battles and eventually comes the urge to raise the white flag; you have not lost
the war yet and you still need to lose love handles. This is where you need to dig down deep and find out whatever
